Participant Protection Policy and Complaints Process

Tennis Northern adheres to the Tennis New Zealand Participant Protection Policy, which aims to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of all individuals participating in tennis activities conducted under the umbrella of Tennis New Zealand.

In accordance with this policy, complaints should in the first instance be submitted to the Tennis Northern Chief Executive at ceo@tennisnorthern.co.nz, following the procedures outlined in clause 18.1 of the Tennis New Zealand Participant Protection Policy. The Chief Executive is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Tennis Northern under delegated authority from the Tennis Northern Board and is therefore the appropriate first point of contact for complaints.

In limited or exceptional circumstances, the Tennis Northern Board may consider a complaint independently of the Chief Executive where the complaint:

    1. relates directly to the Chief Executive; or
    2. is of such seriousness or nature that it cannot reasonably be managed through the Chief Executive.

Where a complainant reasonably believes their complaint falls within this category, the complaint may be submitted via the following form, which will be received by a member of the Tennis Northern Board:

All complaints will be managed in accordance with the principles of confidentiality, procedural fairness, and natural justice, and in alignment with the Tennis New Zealand Participant Protection Policy and associated integrity processes. Information relating to complaints will only be shared with those who need to be involved in assessing, investigating, or resolving the matter.

If a complaint falls within the jurisdiction of Tennis New Zealand’s integrity or disciplinary processes, it may be referred to Tennis New Zealand for management in accordance with the relevant national policy.
