COVID-19 Level 3 Changes

Tennis NZ, affiliated Regions and key Facility Managers have worked over the past weeks to put these ‘Tennis Activity Alert Levels’ together. We realise this is such an unusual time for everyone, and we are keen for clubs and coaches to get back on court as soon as it is safe and responsible to do so.

Like you, we are monitoring Government announcements closely and as we move back down through the Alert Levels, if there is more flexibility for public venues and playgrounds at Level 3.

We shall update these guidelines to reflect that for tennis too.

Following the governments announcements yesterday with regards to the changes for when Level 3 is introduced TNZ and all the regions have agreed that:

• For the time being current guidelines remain. That is clubs cannot open.
• TNZ has queries in to MBIE & Spot NZ to get specific answers on tennis and whether play can continue within the personal bubbles and whether courts can be made available for this. As well they are asking if one on one coaching sessions can take place.
• Based on the current information we cannot guarantee the health of players using shared facilities, particularly if clubs and centres are open and unmanned.
